Αυτό είναι το ερώτημα που αντιμετώπισε η CANON, όταν αποφάσισε να παράγει το διάδοχο της EOS 5D.
Η αρχική 5D ήταν το πρώτο «προσιτό» και ελαφρύ (σε σχετικούς όρους) full frame φωτογραφική μηχανή.
Ο διάδοχός του την 5D Mark II διαθέτει 21 megapixel, 1080p video, 3.0 "VGA LCD, Live View, και την υψηλότερη χωρητικότητα μπαταρίας.
Πρόκειται για μια φωτογραφική μηχανή που έχει ως στόχο να ξεπεράσει άμεσα τους ανταγωνιστές της, τόσο όσο στην ικανότητα ανάλυσης και βίντεο.
